A good friend of mine from France tends to say “Microbes do it better”. I’d like to tweak that to say that according to public data from the Information Resources GmbH, France does it better.

Looking at the difference between selected European countries with respect to price inflation of edible products and demand for the same, France clearly has a better handle. The IRI CPG demand for edible products overall does not differ much between Germany, France, Italy and Spain:

However, looking at IRI CPG inflation rates for these products, France clearly has a better handle and keeps the inflation rate lower than Germany, Italy or Spain.

But if the trend of that started in early October is any indication, both, Spain and Germany are also on their way to lower inflation for these products.
